Role Scope
At the forefront of growth and development, Pace Appointments is delighted to have partnered with this high performing commercial unit in the appointment of a Contracts Specialist / Commercial Manager. Our client is seeking a motivated specialist who can bring their commercial acumen to manage a range of service based contracts such as camps, security and water to name a few. You will support the Budget and Contract Owners, ensuring they have the required services to deliver on production targets.
Reporting into the Head of Commercial and leading a team of 2, this role will see you:
- Developing and negotiating long term collaborative contracts in line with the commercial team;
- Liaising with key stakeholders whilst preparing and maintaining supplier contracts and mitigating risk across all facets;
- Delivering commercial and contractual advice within supplier and stakeholder functions;
- Managing contracts according to contractual terms and conditions ensuring delivery targets are met;
- Avoidance, management, and resolution of contractual disputes;
- Managing supplier relationships – Maintaining strong relationships with selected supply partners and monitoring performance;
- Leading supplier performance reviews;
- Contract governance and compliance;
- Lead negotiations, develop sourcing strategies, realise cost savings and execute category plans to optimise outcomes and meet delivery targets.
Success Profile
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate strong contracts and procurement experience across pre and post award, and exemplify exceptionally strong communication skills with a proactive approach to stakeholder engagement.
You will harness your strong technical knowledge across contract management, and solid exposure acquired in open cut mining (preferred) or oil and gas, rail or infrastructure sectors is essential, as is tangible knowledge of camp and accommodation contracts. Working within a deadline-driven and fast-paced environment, strong attention to detail will be key to delivering high quality outcomes.
In addition to the above criteria, you will also:
- Possess tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Economics, Engineering, Law, Business or a related discipline;
- Demonstrated reliable tenure in senior contract/supply chain/category management appointments within mining;
- Ability to reside in Townsville working in office on 5/2 work pattern.
