Our client, a prominent packaging manufacturing company in Melbourne's Western suburbs, is actively searching for a strategic and experienced Plant Manager to become part of their team. About the Role: - Lead daily operations of the plant, ensuring production efficiency while maintaining strict adherence to safety, health, environmental, and quality regulations.
- Develop and implement production strategies to meet targets and optimize plant performance.
- Monitor and analyze production metrics to identify areas for improvement, taking corrective actions where necessary.
- Create and uphold standard operating procedures (SOPs) across all plant operations.
- Oversee and manage all plant maintenance activities, ensuring optimal functionality of equipment.
- Work closely with procurement and logistics teams to ensure uninterrupted operations and timely delivery of products.
- Support and manage plant and equipment upgrade projects, ensuring successful execution.
- Provide training and mentorship to plant staff, enhancing skills and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
About You: - You have a strong customer-focused attitude with a drive for continuous improvement in production and operations leadership.
- Extensive knowledge of efficient production methods, including LEAN and 6S manufacturing principles.
- Proven ability to manage large teams with a focus on budgeting, cost-efficiency, and meeting production goals.
- Strong organizational skills, with experience in planning workflow and resource allocation to meet deadlines.
- Analytical skills to assess production issues, with a focus on eliminating inefficiencies and enhancing product quality.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities, capable of fostering teamwork and driving success.
- At least 5 years of managerial experience in production management, with a strong background in continuous improvement methodologies like LEAN and Six Sigma.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Qualifications and Experience: - Tertiary qualifications in Manufacturing, Engineering, or Business Management (or similar) are essential.
- Strong background in continuous improvement with experience in LEAN, Six Sigma, and problem-solving tools.
- Experience leading, coaching, and developing teams to enhance operational capability.
- Ability to prioritize work and resolve issues efficiently to meet business objectives.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing business needs and job requirements.
- Previous experience with regulatory requirements in working with plastics, packaging. dangerous goods or hazardous substances is advantageous.
