Our client is an Australian based company specialising in the provision of transport and logistics services to the global mining community. Based in their southern suburbs office, this company has two commercial roles available.
Procurement Officer – Senior role. Primarily, this role leads freight procurement activities and assists with contract establishment and maintenance. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, this is a senior position which offers the right candidate excellent opportunities for career advancement.
Main responsibilities include:
- Source, manage, plan and lead negotiations with freight carriers and contractors to deliver competitive procurement outcomes
- Identify freight opportunities on new and established trade lanes
- Assist with management of tender processes from inception to completion
- Support contract delivery
- Oversee a small team of experienced freight procurement specialists.
The successful candidate will have sound experience in International Freight Forwarding operations and have a very analytical approach to their work. Experience in cross trade sea and air freight procurement, ideally with dealing with oversize cargoes. A sound knowledge of shipping practices and a high level of business acumen and understanding of commercial practices is essential.
Pricing & Tender Officer The Pricing and Tender Officer is responsible for pricing and assist with tender pricing as part of the presales process, quotation, tender support, estimating for logistics and project enquiries. Further, this role is supports to operations.
Main responsibilities include:
Participate in the development of new logistics proposals for the mining industry.
Investigation and determination of the most cost effective and time relevant method of freight expedition to achieve required results for both customer and company.
Preparation of freight & transport quotation and tender documents for existing and potential clients.
Negotiate rates with carriers and overseas agents.
Research current mining projects, companies and EPCM’s and identify any prospective new business.
The successful candidate will have minimum three years experience in International Freight Forwarding within a customer service or sales support role.
