The Logistics Operations Manager's core purpose will be to lift overall branch and warehouse performance, optimise transport and last-mile delivery, and support new projects and growth.
Key Responsibilities: - Lift branch warehouse performance
- Standardise warehouse processes and best practice across branches.
- Improve inventory handling at branch level (layout, min/max, capacity, flow) and work closely with the central inventory/data team to turn data into practical branch changes, not just spreadsheets.
- Optimising transport and last-mile delivery
- Oversee branch delivery from branch to customer and branch to branch, managing relationships & contracts with transport providers .
- Drive efficiency in route planning, review and refine delivery runs.
- Manage and negotiate with transport/courier providers.
- Monitor performance and identify efficiency gains (cost, timeliness, utilisation).
- Support projects & growth
- Input into new branch setups and refurbishments - especially warehouse layout and flow.
- Contribute to warehouse design (racking layout, diagrams/drawings, capacity planning).
- Support rollout and use of VLM/automated storage and other warehouse technologies.
- Warehouse & inventory
- Assess and improve layout, racking, storage and capacity utilisation.
- Work with inventory team on min/max levels, stock mix and replenishment settings.
- Recommend and help implement inventory / warehouse tools or software that improve overall efficiency and safety.
- Manage warehouse assets (e.g. approving additional racking, storage equipment, dealing with suppliers)
About you: - Proven, multi-site logistics & warehousing background, with branch/warehouse operations experience rather than just pure head-office supply chain.
- Strong with data analysis and reporting (Excel/BI, ERP data - especially BC/Dynamics or similar).
- Exposure to route planning / delivery optimisation.
- Able to travel nationally and spend meaningful time on the branch floor (not just behind a desk).
- Experience improving warehouse layout & design and exposure to automated storage warehouse technology.
- Industry experience from spare parts / industrial / machinery / automotive is highly advantageous.
- Must be customer-centric always aiming to improve the customer experience.
- Must be collaborative and adaptable.
- Must be ambitious and driven.
