Our client, a well-established and growing food manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Afternoon Shift Team Leader to join their Thomastown site. This role is pivotal in ensuring production runs reliably and efficiently, while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, employee safety, and product quality.
As Team Leader, you will oversee a team of production operators, driving performance and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. With a strong focus on GMP, HACCP, and workplace safety, you’ll guide and motivate your team to achieve departmental objectives and deliver consistent results.
About the Role: - Lead, guide, and coach production operators on the afternoon shift.
- Ensure efficient operation of production areas with available resources.
- Drive compliance with GMP, HACCP, and OH&S standards.
- Monitor and achieve key performance indicators (line efficiencies, plan attainment, labour variances).
- Support SOP development and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Liaise with maintenance/engineering to ensure equipment is maintained and operational.
- Represent the department in daily meetings and ensure smooth shift handovers.
- Promote a safe, proactive, and positive workplace culture.
About You: - Experience in the food industry (preferred)
- Previous leadership/team management experience in a production environment.
- Food Handler Certificates I–III (desirable).
- Strong knowledge of GMP and HACCP standards.
- Computer literacy (MS Office; exposure to integrated manufacturing systems).
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
- Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to motivate and develop others.
