Our client, a global leader in the agricultural space, is seeking a Safety & Sustainability Officer to drive health, safety, environmental, and recycling initiatives across their ANZ operations.
This newly created role will see you work closely with senior leadership, championing a safe and compliant workplace while also coordinating the recycling program for end-of-life products. It’s a unique opportunity to combine traditional EHS responsibilities with a forward-thinking sustainability program that reduces carbon footprint and drives operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities: - Educate, motivate, and train employees on safety, PPE, and housekeeping (5S).
- Develop and deliver HSE training programs.
- Manage PPE, uniforms, and safety equipment.
- Support Workers’ Compensation and Return-to-Work processes.
- Lead operational safety committees and drive compliance with legislation.
- Conduct audits, inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Maintain accurate EHS records and reporting systems (e.g., ENHESE, ODESIO).
- Drive continuous improvement in safety and environmental processes.
Recycling Program: - Coordinate recycling requests, client engagement, and ongoing communication.
- Verify compliance with recycling and biosecurity requirements.
- Arrange logistics, freight, and machinery for collections.
- Manage pricing, terms, and recycling plans to ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Oversee contractor induction and site safety requirements.
- Issue Certificates of Recycling and maintain processor relationships.
- Generate monthly recycling reports and manage invoicing.
About you: - Qualification in OHS (essential).
- Experience with management systems (AS/NZS ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
- Background in a manufacturing environment in a supervisor or manager capacity (advantageous.)
- Strong knowledge of HSE legislation and compliance.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and conflict resolution skills.
- A genuine passion for sustainability and continuous improvement.
