Pace Appointments QLD is partnering with a close-knit freight forwarding business based on Brisbane’s northside, seeking a Business Development Manager to develop new business and help strengthen its existing client relationships.
This is a great opportunity to join a smaller business where your contribution will be visible and you’ll work closely with the General Manager and operations team. Whether you’re an experienced freight BDM or coming from operations, customer service or account management and ready to step into sales, you’ll have the autonomy, flexibility and support to make a genuine impact.
The Opportunity
You’ll be trusted to manage your own pipeline, plan your client activity and decide how best to approach the market. Mondays bring the team together in the office, while the remainder of the week can be spent meeting clients, working from home or using the office.
This isn’t a sell-it-and-forget-it role. You’ll stay close to clients after onboarding, working alongside operations to ensure solutions are practical, service expectations are clear and accounts continue to develop. It would suit someone who enjoys winning business but also values relationships and seeing the service delivered well.
What You’ll Be Doing - Identifying and developing new business opportunities within the freight forwarding market
- Building relationships with prospective clients and understanding their freight requirements
- Managing the sales process from initial contact through to onboarding
- Working alongside the operations team to develop practical, service-focused solutions
- Maintaining relationships with existing clients and identifying opportunities for account growth
- Supporting a smooth handover of new business into operations
- Managing your own pipeline, client meetings and sales activity
What We’re Looking For - Previous experience within freight forwarding is essential
- Business development, sales or account management experience will be highly regarded; however, candidates from freight operations or customer service backgrounds are encouraged to apply
- A strong understanding of freight forwarding processes and customer requirements
- Confidence communicating with clients, developing relationships and asking for business
- A collaborative approach and the ability to work closely with operations
- The motivation to manage your own schedule and build a successful client portfolio
- A current driver’s licence
What’s on Offer - Attractive salary package with car allowance and commission
- Sliding commission structure that rewards performance
- Flexible working arrangements across the full five-day working week
- Direct access to and support from the General Manager
- A genuine opportunity for an experienced freight professional to build a career in business development
If you have freight forwarding experience and are looking for a role that offers autonomy, flexibility and the opportunity to make a genuine impact, we would be interested in hearing from you.
