Are you a commercially astute finance leader who understands that great financial management is about more than reporting the numbers?

We are seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to join an established international freight forwarding business, offering the opportunity to influence business strategy, strengthen financial performance and support continued growth.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for someone who can combine strong financial governance with commercial insight, operational understanding and a hands-on approach to improving business performance.

The Opportunity

Working closely with senior leadership, you will take ownership of the financial function while providing strategic advice and commercial direction across the business. You will play a key role in improving profitability, managing working capital, strengthening financial controls and identifying opportunities to drive sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the finance function, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and financial planning and analysis.
• Provide commercial insights and strategic recommendations to support business decisions and long-term growth.
• Drive working capital management, cash flow forecasting, treasury and funding strategies.
• Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, credit management and financial controls.
• Analyse revenue, gross profit, margins, pricing and business performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Develop and monitor financial KPIs, reporting frameworks and performance measures.
• Support commercial negotiations, customer profitability reviews and strategic business initiatives.
• Lead, develop and mentor the finance team, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
• Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.
• Partner with leadership across the business to manage financial risk and support profitable growth.

About You

You are a strategic yet hands-on finance professional who can move comfortably between detailed financial management and high-level commercial decision-making.

You will ideally bring:

• Proven experience in a CFO, Finance Director or senior commercial finance leadership role.
• Strong financial management, reporting, budgeting and forecasting capabilities.
• Demonstrated expertise in working capital, cash flow, treasury, credit and funding.
• A strong commercial mindset, with the ability to analyse profitability, pricing, margins and business performance.
• Experience leading finance teams and partnering with senior stakeholders.
• The ability to translate complex financial information into clear, practical business recommendations.
• A track record of improving financial processes, systems and commercial outcomes.
• Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.

Experience within freight forwarding, international logistics, transport or a related service-based industry will be highly regarded, particularly where you understand the relationship between operational performance, customer profitability and cash flow.
