Our client is looking for a proactive and solutions focused
Environmental Officer to oversee compliance, monitoring and sustainability across their meat processing plant. You’ll ensure operations meet all environmental regulations while driving initiatives in waste, water and energy management.
Responsibilities - Monitor water, air, waste and effluent systems and maintain accurate environmental records.
- Manage compliance with permits, licenses, legislation, support audits and corrective actions.
- Develop and implement waste reduction and sustainability programs.
- Identify environmental risks, investigate incidents and implement solutions.
- Ensure full compliance with local, regional, and national environmental regulations.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies, inspectors, and certification auditors.
- Train and engage staff to promote a strong environmental culture.
Skills and Experience - Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Management, Agriculture, Chemistry or related field.
- Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and industrial compliance.
- Experience with wastewater treatment systems and solid waste management.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work on-site in a processing environment.
- Must have experience working in an abattoir, food, FMCG or meat processing environment.
