About the opportunity
The company is seeking an experienced Log Yard Supervisor to take ownership of the safe and efficient operation of its north Brisbane Log Yard. This role sits at the heart of site operations and plays a key role in ensuring log supply, stock rotation and production targets are consistently achieved.

You’ll lead a small team of around 4-6 direct reports, working closely with a hands-on Leading Hand and a range of internal and external stakeholders. This is a role for someone who enjoys being visible on the ground, leading by example and driving continuous improvement across safety, efficiency and teamwork.

What you’ll be responsible for
You’ll oversee daily log yard, residues and debarker activities, ensuring operations run smoothly, safely and in line with contractual, environmental and legislative requirements. This includes:

• Coordinating log stocks and rotations
• Managing residues such as bark, chip and sawdust
• Overseeing yard maintenance and traffic movements, and identifying ways to reduce bottlenecks across the Log Yard and Green Mill
• Ensuring safety is not only adhered to but ingrained into daily tasks

Equally important is your leadership of the team. You’ll develop capability, reinforce safe work practices, and foster a collaborative, accountable culture. Clear communication with Forestry, Green Mill teams, maintenance providers and logistics partners will be central to your success, as will your ability to support and contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives.

What will set you up for success

• Previous experience supervising or leading operational teams within a log yard/mill/forestry/heavy industrial environment;
• Strong safety leadership, sound judgement and a practical understanding of operational workflows;
• Comfortability balancing people leadership with operational demands;
• Communicating clearly with a wide range of stakeholders, building relationships and being motivated by improving systems, processes and team performance.
