The Opportunity As a Maintenance Fitter, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and efficiency of production equipment within a high-volume manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for reactive maintenance, fault finding, preventative maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives to minimise downtime and maximise plant performance.
Key Responsibilities - Perform reactive and breakdown maintenance across production equipment
- Conduct fault finding and troubleshooting on mechanical plant and machinery
- Maintain plant reliability and minimise operational downtime
- Carry out corrective maintenance and scheduled preventative maintenance activities
- Service and repair conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, processing equipment, and associated machinery
- Inspect equipment to identify wear, faults, and potential risks
- Assist with machinery installations, commissioning, upgrades, and shutdown projects
- Work collaboratively with electricians, engineers, contractors, and production teams
- Support continuous improvement and equipment optimisation initiatives
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with site safety, quality, and operational procedures
About the RoleThese positions are within food manufacturing and FMCG facilities where maintenance activities are largely reactive during production periods, with preventative maintenance and larger corrective works often scheduled during weekends, shutdowns, or planned maintenance windows.
Depending on the site, you may be working in:
- Food processing facilities
- Packaging and production environments
- Temperature-controlled areas
- Fast-paced manufacturing operations with automated equipment
What We're Looking For - Trade qualification as a Maintenance Fitter, or equivalent
- Previous experience within FMCG, food manufacturing, packaging, processing, or industrial environments
- Strong fault-finding and breakdown maintenance experience
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and schematics
- Strong understanding of preventative maintenance systems and practices
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards
- Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment
Highly Regarded - Experience within food processing or regulated manufacturing environments
- Exposure to CMMS maintenance systems
- Welding, fabrication, or machining experience
- Experience with continuous improvement initiatives and root cause analysis
