A well-established and growing manufacturing business on Brisbane’s southside is seeking a skilled
Site Automation Specialist to join their engineering team. This is a pivotal, hands-on role where you’ll take the lead on site-wide automation systems, ensuring reliability, performance, and continuous improvement in a high-output production environment.
Working closely with cross-functional teams, you’ll play a key role in keeping operations running smoothly while contributing to the evolution of automation, controls, and digital capability across the site.
- Join a stable, high-performing manufacturing environment with ongoing investment in technology;
- Take full ownership of site automation systems and drive meaningful improvements; and
- Work with a supportive, collaborative team culture.
Scope: You’ll be responsible for maintaining and optimising automation and control systems across the site, including PLCs, SCADA and production data systems. The role involves troubleshooting and resolving technical issues to minimise downtime, supporting capital projects, and identifying opportunities to improve system performance and reliability. You’ll also contribute to longer-term automation initiatives, working alongside engineering, operations and external partners to deliver scalable, future-focused solutions whilst managing system lifecycle, spares, obsolescence and risk mitigation.
About you: You’re a technically strong automation professional with experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment. You bring a hands-on approach to problem solving, along with the ability to think strategically about system improvements and reliability.
To be considered you will demonstrate:
- Experience working with PLC and control systems (e.g. Allen Bradley, Siemens or similar);
- Exposure to SCADA and production or performance systems within a food manufacturing/FMCG setting;
- Proven experience delivering electrical and automation projects from design through to commissioning;
- Strong troubleshooting capability, with the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively.
Experience within FMCG or other fast-paced production environments will be highly regarded, along with any exposure to advanced automation, robotics, AI, closed-loop control systems or data-driven systems.
