We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to step into a hands-on Maintenance Team Leader role within a well-established manufacturing environment.

This is a great opportunity for a mechanically strong tradesperson who enjoys being hands-on while taking responsibility for coordinating a small maintenance team. You’ll work alongside two electricians and a mechanical apprentice, providing day-to-day guidance while remaining actively involved in mechanical maintenance and breakdowns.

The Role

As the Maintenance Team Leader, you’ll help coordinate the maintenance team and ensure plant and equipment remains safe, reliable and operational.

The role will include

• Leading and coordinating a small maintenance team of electricians and an apprentice
• Allocating daily maintenance tasks and providing hands-on support
• Carrying out preventative and breakdown maintenance
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults across production equipment
• Working on hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, machinery and associated plant equipment
• Supporting the apprentice with practical guidance and development
• Working closely with production to minimise downtime
• Identifying recurring faults and contributing to continuous improvement
• Maintaining maintenance records and documentation
• Ensuring work is completed safely and in line with site procedures
• Assisting with spare parts, maintenance planning and general site requirements

About You

We’re looking for a qualified Mechanical Fitter who is confident working independently and taking the lead within a small team.

You will ideally have

• An Australian recognised Mechanical Trade Qualification
• Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Experience with preventative and reactive maintenance
• The ability to coordinate and support a small team
• Strong commitment to safety and quality
• Good communication skills and the ability to work closely with production and electrical teams
