Are you an experienced foundry or heavy manufacturing leader who knows a furnace inside and out and wants to own the result? Our client is seeking a hands-on Meltshop Supervisor to lead their meltshop team. You will take charge of furnace operations, production priorities and metal quality, and make sure every pour is done safely, on time and to standard. This is a key leadership role where your decisions directly shape how the whole operation performs.
Why This Role? This is a full-time, permanent day shift role where you will run your own meltshop with modern plant and equipment behind you. Reporting straight to the Foundry Manager, you will have a direct say in safety, quality and productivity.
Key Responsibilities - Supervising and leading all meltshop staff
- Coaching, training and developing your team, including inductions and performance management
- Allocating daily work and coordinating production flow
- Ensuring pouring crews and molten metal are ready to meet production requirements
- Overseeing furnace operations, melting processes and metal distribution
- Maintaining furnace condition and coordinating maintenance and repairs
- Monitoring incoming scrap and ensuring there is enough feedstock on hand
- Ensuring metal quality and inoculation meet the required standards
- Operating the spectrometer and overseeing its correct use
- Ensuring Production Process Sheets and quality procedures are followed
- Keeping accurate melt logs, job cards and production records
- Monitoring consumable stock levels and organising replenishment
- Identifying production issues early and putting corrective actions in place
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and 5S across the meltshop
- Ensuring all staff follow OH&S procedures and PPE requirements
About You - Supervisory or leadership experience in a foundry, meltshop, metal processing or heavy manufacturing environment (essential)
- Solid practical knowledge of furnace and melting operations
- Experience with ferrous metals and scrap management
- An understanding of metal quality, inoculation and spectrometer processes
- A strong safety mindset and a commitment to leading by example
- The ability to lead, coach and motivate a crew
- Good planning, organisation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to juggle competing priorities
- A hands-on approach and the confidence to work alongside the production team and liaise with management
- A commitment to quality, productivity and continuous improvement
