Our client is a large Australian manufacturer with a workforce of over 200 employees. As the business continues to strengthen its operational capability, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Payroll Officer to step into a pivotal role within their Brisbane north team.

Working closely with the Financial Controller, department supervisors, and broader finance and HR functions, this role oversees the delivery of accurate, compliant and timely payroll services across a weekly cycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end payroll processing to ensure payments are delivered accurately, on time and in line with contracts, Awards and legislative requirements;
• Maintain and reconcile payroll records, including taxation, superannuation, leave and overtime data;
• Interpret and apply Industrial Agreements, providing payroll guidance to internal stakeholders;
• Monitor and implement changes in legislation, ensuring ongoing compliance and robust risk management practices;
• Prepare payroll summaries, reports and analytics to support operational decision-making and cost management;
• Contribute to process improvement in partnership with the Financial Controller and broader leadership;
• Foster strong relationships across internal departments and relevant external bodies.

Success Profile

• Solid experience in payroll management within a high-volume environment;
• Knowledge of Modern Awards, payroll tax, WorkCover and broader employment legislation;
• Experience liaising with government agencies and superannuation clearing houses;
• Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy and problem-solving skills;
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships;
• Advanced computer literacy, including proficient use of Excel for reporting and analysis;
• A proactive, improvement-focused mindset aligned with the organisation’s values.
