Our client, a respected leader in large-scale manufacturing, is seeking an experienced and motivated Purchasing Officer to join their procurement team. Working alongside production and reporting to the Procurement Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring materials and equipment are available when required. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a blend of office-based coordination and hands-on stock responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities You will be accountable for the full purchasing and stock control cycle, including:
- Managing incoming requests from internal departments and raising purchase orders once approvals are obtained;
- Liaising with suppliers to place and track orders, ensuring deadlines are met and inventory levels are maintained;
- Monitoring stock movements daily, proactively following up on delays or low-stock alerts;
- Overseeing weekly counts for key production items and accurately recording all movements and usage;
- Communicating regularly with suppliers regarding delivery schedules and order status updates;
- Working with managers to forecast requirements and plan purchases in line with operational lead times.
This role is based on-site at our client’s office in the Toowoomba region, working standard business hours Monday to Friday.
About You We are seeking someone who is organised, analytical and takes ownership. You will thrive in this role if you possess:
- Previous stores, inventory and/or purchasing experience within a fast-paced environment;
- Enjoy working with numbers and possess solid mathematical and record-keeping skills;
- Ask questions, seek out information and are eager to strengthen your knowledge;
- Are comfortable being hands-on with stock counts and managing your own bookings, reconciliations and follow-ups.
